Courtesy of Grist - for the next year, Government agencies in Utah are trialing a four-day work-week in an effort to cut energy consumption in buildings and fuel expenditure associated with employee commutes and to reduce associated carbon emissions.
Employees will take home the same pay, but will work ten hours on Mondays through to Thursdays and have Fridays off.
It is estimated that the savings in not having to heat or cool and light the Government buildings on Fridays will be as large as $3 million per year. The shrunken work-week is also expected to reduce carbon emissions by 3000 metric tonnes.
