Wahoo! Our first major campaign hit pay dirt. We asked all the green energy providers if they would provide us finance for solar panels. After all, if you can get a plasma tv from Harvey Norman on a finance plan, then why not something as vital to changing the world's fortunes as solar panels?
At EarthMums central we have been grappling with the big problem of working out what are the best products to buy.
On the supermarket shelves right now, is no indication of a products carbon status. You can make a guess - if it's from Siberia, it's got a few food miles on it. But if it's organic, does that even it out a bit? But Siberia is cold, it's probably comes from a greenhouse. Greenhouses, they're bad aren't they? (And so your inner voice natters on...)
These guys are ace - Small Lust ezine. Funny, interesting, beautiful to look at, this is the perfect reading bite for Mum's enjoying a well-earned espresso (two shots, sugar, dash of whiskey. Just kidding about the whiskey. I hate whiskey. It was Pernod).
Dear Mr Fielding,
Thank you for your update on your excellent initiatives and policies. I was disappointed to see, however, that there was no mention of the environment.
As a mother, climate change is number one on my concerns for my children. With some other mums, we have even gone so far as to set up a site for concerned mums to lobby business to clean up their act.
There's an exhibition on at the moment at CERES Environmental Park, in Brunswick, Victoria. All the beautiful works will be auctioned off this coming Thursday and the proceeds will go to the park.

They are taking this petition to the G8 summit. They did a similar thing for the last summit and it brought climate change to the top of the agenda.
I think it's ironic our government defended climate change inaction by saying it's protecting jobs, while leading us into a climate change recession.
It's ironic in that our first-world country has done the least about climate change, but will fare the worst from its effects.
It's not good news. In a report today, they now know we are barrelling towards climate change catastrophe twice as fast as our worst case scenario.
So depressing was Marie's article about the Southern Ocean giving up the ghost, I had to cheer myself up and find some good news.
It wasn't hard. Bill Clinton has conjured up this fantastic scheme to lend money to retrofit office buildings to make them from 20-50% more energy efficient. And Melbourne is a part of the scheme.
The Bracks Government is about to receive a report into the effects of climate change on Victoria over the coming decades - and it doesn't look good.
